Our Perfect Holiday

Child free breaks seem so long ago,
We’d snooze, surf and sunbathe & just go with the flow.
Fast forward to now and we have three children in tow,
It’s frankly exhausting just watching them grow.

A perfect holiday for us would go back to a time,
When we’d dress up for dinner and enjoy fine wine.
Dad would play tennis and read his paper alone,
Mum would enjoy yoga & get back in the zone.

The children wouldn’t be left out of the fun and games,
They’d spend a few hours at kids club sailing over the waves.
They would watch films on the big screen with new friends at night,
Leaving mum and dad to remember what it’s like to dance under moonlight.

Of course there would be lots of family time too,
We’d spend hours in the pool and take a family trip out to the zoo.
We’d learn new skills, this could be skiing or diving,
And feel proud working together (there’d be lots of high fiving).

Ultimately our perfect holiday would allow us time to relax,
Time to reconnect as a couple and reminisce about the past.
We’d also create special memories with our children three,
And try new activities together on both land and in sea.

Holidays are the perfect time to take some time out,
Spending quality time together would be our focus with no doubt.
With plenty of fresh air & sunshine we’d return home refreshed,
With a desire to plan our next adventure and ask where to next?

This is our entry to the Mark Warner 2016 Ambassador Programme. We would like to be considered for the creative writing category. I didn't want to enter a post without any photographs, so I've created a Pinterest board below which is a visual interpretation of our poem. I hope you like it :-)
