Losing my blogging mojo and a plan for the future

So.....a lot has happened over these past fews months and it seems that my mind doesn't like change too much! I have made the decision to leave my employed job and start blogging full time (I've been building up to this since January so it wasn't a rash decision!) and I've had a few projects that I may or may not be joining which has kind of left me in limbo. I have still enjoyed the writing part of blogging but I haven't really been giving the rest of it my all - I am usually a huge advocate of scheduling some social media which just hasn't happened in the last few months and I haven't been running my own linkys (for non bloggers this is when bloggers link up with each other around a certain topic) or even joining in with my favourites. I haven't been scheduling posts and have just been hitting publish which just isn't me - I usually love to be organised! I wasn't suffering from writer's block - it seemed to be more than that.

How I got my mojo back

In simple terms - I went on holiday and had a break. I spent October half term in Scotland and it turns out a change in scenery was all that I needed to put that blogging fire back in my belly! Spending time with my family and in gorgeous countryside really was the best inspiration. On my way home I was brimming with ideas and even bought a new domain name when Steve was filling the car up with petrol!

Here's my plan

Moving forward, I have a new blogging plan. Blogging is my sole source of income now so it had better be a good one!

  • North East Family Fun will focus on North East days out, restaurants and a bit of lifestyle/fun at home. You will still find me blogging about other things occasionally as I am committed to a few projects and as North East Family Fun has the best domain authority of all of my blogs, it is the blog that most brands will want to feature. Please bear with me as I continue to grow my other blogs and I hope within 6-12 months I can keep North East Family Fun solely based in the North East

  • UK Family Fun will focus on days out and holidays across the whole of UK. I would love to feature guest posts from my readers and other bloggers when they go on holiday or enjoy days out across the whole of the UK so please get in touch if you are interested.

  • Life As Mrs R will continue to be my personal blog where I write about blogging, feature local businesses and competitions, grown up nights out and generally my place to write when I need to get something off my chest.

  • I am going back to planning my facebook content at the beginning of every month - it really takes the pressure of when I do this. It only takes a few hours but it really does make a massive difference. I'll also go back to scheduling my blog posts again.

  • I have removed all twitter automation - I don't know about you but I find bloggers just tweeting links to their blog posts really boring. I will still of course share my post links but not as much as I have done in the past and I hope to actually be 'more social' on twitter and use it in real time in real life. It isn't called social media for nothing! (Find me @nefamilyfun)

So there you have it! I well and truly have my mojo back and I couldn't be happier! I'd be interested to hear if this has happened to any of you and how you overcome it. xx

  3. Well done for getting back on track! Totally know what you mean though, I went through a mid-year lull but am back now too, kind of! I don't love twitter automation either, it can become a bit spammy if it's the same thing over and over again. x
