Girls night out with live music at Gusto, Newcastle

Everyone needs a good girls night out every once in a while. When you're in your 30's it is often difficult to decide what to do - you do want to be able to catch up over nice food and wine and let your hair down a bit but you might not necessarily want to go night clubbing. When we noticed that Gusto had a live music night coming up, we promptly booked a table. Paulo Martini would be entertaining diners with his live music and charm.

Any good night starts with a cocktail and I opted for an apple and grape Margherita - something I've never tried before but it was delicious and the perfect apertif.

I was joined by Katie (Katie Jane Online) and Chloe (New Girl in Toon) as we wanted to discuss our plans for an upcoming mini break together to Glasgow. We browsed the menu and like good bloggers all ordered something different. Our starters arrived in no time and as we were all STARVING they were gone within minutes. Service was super friendly and the staff really looked after us and ensured our table was topped up with drinks.

Gusto was packed and there wasn't a spare seat to be had. There was a mixture of couples and groups of friends and the atmosphere was nice and lively. Time for mains.....

My pizza was simply gorgeous and they didn't scrimp on the toppings which was nice to see. There was time to squeeze in dessert before Paulo started his set....

All of our food was superb and I honestly have no complaints - everyone I speak to raves about Gusto and I will certainly be heading back with Steve and the kids soon.

As the night continued, I may have consumed one too many wines! Why does this always happen to me on girls nights out? I have to get carried away. When I'm having a good time I don't seem to be able to say no to an extra glass at the end of the night!

Paulo Martini was just as good as the real thing. He started with a few of his slow numbers as everyone was finishing dinner and ended the night with everyone on their feet dancing. We were all in high spirits and joined in, singing and dancing along to hit after hit.

Chloe's enjoying a little boogie.

I wasn't sure what to expect from live music in a restaurant but it really was such a good night (even if my head did pay for it the next day). I will definitely book again and can;t wait to see who's going to perform next. To keep up to date with upcoming events, sign up to the Newcastle Gusto newsletter.
